Mummy took me for my walk Saturday morning as usual, and I was having great fun running around in the river. When I came out of the river Mummy noticed I was limping. She checked my back paw and there must have been glass in the water, because there was blood pouring from my back pad.

Mummy picked me up and carried me to the car park, as she phoned my human brother to come and get us. We drove straight to the vet. The vet cleaned the cut, which really hurt! Then he said I needed stitches. He didn't want to inject my pad as it would swell up and he didn't want to give me a general anesthetic unless he had too. So he wanted to try and stitch my paw with Mummy holding and reasurring me.

Mummy held onto me and the nurse kept hold of my leg and the vet stitched. I cried and yelped and whined, it was about then Mummy fell apart, she was crying and sobbing all over me, she kept saying, its alright Simba, its alright. At one point she nearly had to walk out, because hearing me in pain was too much too bear. But a few minutes and two stitches later. the worse was over.

I had my leg bandaged up and two injections, the injections didn't bother me I was past caring by then. Mummy had reached the point of no return and couldn't stop crying. The nurse got my human brother to come and sit with her. The vet offered her a cup of hot sweet tea. She did ask if she could be sedated, not a bad idea.

The bandage was allowed to come off the next day. The stitches have to stay in for 12 days. Mummy and Fat fat Daddy have been taking the cone off when they can keep an eye on me. But left alone I can't help but lick the stitches.

When we got home Mummy tried to take my photo. I wasn't even talking to her!

In the last couple of weeks, I've had an upset tummy, nearly drown and now cut my paw. Mummy says she feels so guilty and feels she is a terrible dog owner. I think only hourly treats can make up for my pain and suffering.

Oh my, you poor thing! That piece of glass must have cut your paw paw deep just like Faith's last time. Yeah, Faith felt the pain too but she was put under anesthesia so she fell a sleep & didn't feel the pain but only after she woke. She felt it... I hope your poor paw paw heals up soon. And please tell your Mummy not to say that. She's not a bad dog owner! Accidents do happen sometimes. She shouldn't feel so guilty & negative. Please give her a hug for me will ya? But I guess you can only do that when your cone is off. Hehe!

Oh you poor sweetheart! I think you were incredibly brave and deserve treats on the hour just for that alone! Mum wants to send your Mummy a hug and thinks that she is incredibly brave too, apparently even when Mummy's don't cause the injury they feel terribly guilty, Mum says you should give your Mummy lots of kisses. Hope you are feeling better soon little buddy.

Simba, you won't believe this but I did the exact same thing this weekend. I was at the beach and that's where we think I sliced my pad open, only no one knew it til the next day when I started limping. All the vets were closed because of Labour Day, so Mama soaked my foot in Epsom Salts and put Polysporin on it. I'm not limping so much now but I'm going to the vet tomorrow to check it out. I sure hope I don't need stitches.... yikes, you scared me!!

Take care of your foot, Simba. The worst is over and now it's going to be good as new soon. My Mama couldn't bear to read how you were crying... poor you and your poor Mama...

Oh Simba, I hurt too when I read your emergency Vet visit. Glad that you got rid of that lampshade.
Hourly treats? I vote for it.
Take care, buddy.( And even you feel better, keep limping to keep hourly treats coming, OK?)
Cheers!

Simba, you were such a brave boy!! I know you can get better and take care of your mom too (it sounds like she's suffering too). Those cones things are never fun...T-man hated his.

Rest up, little boy and get better. Your mom and not so fat daddy are counting on you..

Thanks for your kind words these past few days. I really miss T-man, but the pain is a little bit easier to take with the support of my DWB friends.

CC-man and I will drop by to see how you're doing. T-man Angel will be with us too...

Oh dear Simba, this is terrible to be hurt. The worst is over.

Your Momma is not a bad dog owner. She was so upset when the stitching was hurting you. We know our Momma would have been crying too.

Take care of yourself! Maybe that bubblewrap is a good idea!
